The Woodward 9907-014 Rev J 2301A Speed Control is an electronic speed controller designed for regulating the speed of prime movers used in industrial power-generation and engine-control applications. The 2301A control system uses a speed-sensing device, frequency-to-voltage conversion, speed reference and control amplifier to regulate the actuator and maintain the required engine or turbine speed. The 9907-014 is a low-voltage model, designed for operation from a 20–40 VDC power supply. It is intended for forward-acting applications and can be used with appropriate proportional actuators to control fuel or steam mechanisms. The 2301A family supports speed control applications involving diesel engines, gasoline/gas engines, steam turbines and gas turbines. Woodward's application documentation also identifies 9907-014 as the recommended replacement for the discontinued Woodward 8272-689 / Caterpillar 4W-5790 standard 2301 control, although wiring differences must be considered during replacement.
